In our work together, I help individuals and couples reconnect with what feels most authentic—your needs, desires, values, and strengths—so you can express these parts of yourself with greater clarity and ease. Whether you’re seeking a deeper connection with yourself or with a partner, therapy can help uncover what gets in the way of feeling secure, understood, and emotionally fulfilled. As you strengthen your relationship with yourself and those you care about, you may notice relief from anxiety, depression, and stress, along with a greater sense of confidence, intimacy, and balance in your life.
I am an interpersonal relationship expert and psychotherapist who works at the intersection of achievement and authenticity. The majority of my clients are highly intelligent and accomplished individuals and couples who are interested in cultivating relational and emotional intelligent skills needed to take their personal and professional relationships to the next step, beginning with themselves.
Professional Experience
My PhD is in Human Sexuality where my dissertation research focused on the forgiveness process for married women who meditate. I earned an MA in Clinical Counseling from New York University, with additional certification from NYU's Transdisciplinary Violence and Trauma Studies Program, where I trained under renowned psychologist Carol Gilligan, PhD, which greatly influences my work. I completed training at Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy’s Trauma Studies program and a fellowship at San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute.
I am currently an EMDR training teacher at Sonoma Psychotherapy Training Institute. I served on the Board of Directors for the Northern California Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (NCCEFT).
My clinical certifications include:
EMDRIA Certified Therapist and Consultant in EMDR,
ICEEFT Certified Therapist and Supervisor Candidate in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and Individuals,
AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, and Doctorate in Human Sexuality
PSI Certified Maternal Mental Health Therapist.
I hold advanced training in Deep Brain Reorientation, Happiness Coaching/Positive Psychology, Gottman Couples Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Nonviolent Communication, TEAM-CBT, grief therapy, and sophisticated somatic modalities.
I’ve held a thirty-five year dedicated meditation practice in kundalini and vipassana. I believe meditation builds the self-soothing and self-regulation skills that are the foundation of every strong, satisfying relationship — with yourself and with others. I’ve been studying sexuality for the last twenty years with various teachers. This integration of neuroscience-informed modalities with embodied awareness creates a therapeutic approach that is both intellectually rigorous and somatically grounded. I have particular research and clinical expertise in authenticity with one's self and in relationships, interpersonal communication, mindfulness, women’s health, and sexuality. My work is grounded in the belief that wholeness emerges through connection — within ourselves and with others — not correction.
Background
As a visiting scholar at Tel Aviv University, I conducted grant-funded research examining women with Eastern-Western hyphenated identities, their sexual development and schema, and relationships, publishing work using The Listening Guide methodology. My research has spanned NYU, Veterans Affairs in Palo Alto, Tel Aviv University, and institutes across Israel.
Prior to private practice, I introduced integrative approaches in reproductive medicine at a New York City fertility and endocrinology center, introducing holistic modalities into conventional medical settings. I founded Radiant Living Wellness, a women's natural health center in New York City, integrating functional nutrition, yoga, and meditation for comprehensive care. I spent a few years assisting in opening a well-known meditation and yoga space in NYC - HariNYC.
I was raised in a family of longstanding prominence in pre-Revolution Iran. That experience of going from the pinnacle of society to starting over taught me something invaluable: the difference between your family legacy, what you build and who you are. Growing up in that rarefied world, then rebuilding inside and outside of it, gave me a unique vantage point.
