About

Oftentimes, we hide a part of ourselves out of fear of judgment or pain. Therapy is a place to bring your whole self--whatever that may look like for you. My work is grounded in cultivating a safe and accepting space for you to share your desires, fears, passions, worries, and more. Healing begins when we shift our mindsets towards having more self-compassion and giving ourselves space to be imperfect (which we all are!). I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to therapy, but rather a collaborative one. My hope is that we can begin the therapeutic journey together by focusing on what is most salient for you.

There is no “right” or “wrong” way to be in therapy. I look forward to being able to support you on your journey.

About

Nicole Ohebshalom, RN, LPC

LPC#11181

I carry the belief that we are born in perfect form “whole” and ready to recognize and share our unique magnificence, and to receive what the world has to teach and offer us. The challenges and curve balls of our life experience chip away at this knowing. We then spend the rest of our days, should we choose to live consciously and most joyfully, recalling what we knew from the beginning, unveiling the essence of who we truly are …finding our way back into the light of our divinity and destiny.

I am a psychotherapist working with individuals and couples by helping them to make changes in their lives. I obtained my Master’s degree at New York University with an additional certification at NYU in an interdisciplinary program in trauma and violence. During graduate school, I was trained and worked at Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy’s Trauma Studies program. Recently, I was a fellow at San Francisco Psychoanalysis Institute. Currently, I am obtaining my doctorate in Human Sexuality and on the NCCEFT board.

I am a psychodynamic therapist and my work is based on attachment theory, mindfulness and emotionally focused therapy. I hold advance training in Emotionally Focused Couples and Individual Therapy, EMDR, and Sex Therapist (AASECT). Additionally, I hold training and extensive tools in Internal Family Systems/parts work, Gottman couples therapy (level 2), Hakomi, exposure therapy, narrative/schema therapy and cognitive skill building (CBT, ACT and TEAM-CBT). I work with couples and individuals experiencing emotional distress and/or experiencing a desire to deepen their understanding of themselves, live with more vitality, improve in areas of communication, commitment, forgiveness, relationship-building, conflict resolution and emotional-regulation. I am engaged and active in my approach with clients. Previously, I was a Registered Nurse working in fertility and endocrinology.

As a researcher, I was a visiting scholar at Tel Aviv University with a grant funded study and published work using The Listening Guide methodology to study women with Eastern-Western hyphenated identities and their sexual development, including voice, silence, agency and honour. I was trained by Carol Gilligan, PhD. Currently, I’m working on my dissertation focused on forgiveness, trauma, embodiment and intersubjectivity in romantic relationships.

Through holistic and integrative practices, I help clients create more compassion for themselves, more capacity to feel the hard stuff, and more understanding of how to manage the stressors and impacts of our history, our environment, and our daily life.

I serve not as an expert or someone with all the answers, but as a collaborative guide who values and deeply respects who my clients are and the wisdom they already have within.

Therapy provided in Farsi and English.
