Therapy for Creatives

Work on yourself to work on your craft. Therapy to unlock creative potential.

Navigating the Emotional Landscape of Creativity: As someone deeply involved in the artistic realm, whether as an artist, designer, actor, or innovator you are familiar with the thrilling highs and challenging lows that accompany your creative journey. Amidst these emotional fluctuations, you may find yourself contemplating how to effectively manage the emotional shifts associated with exploring various roles or engaging in diverse creative projects.

Creative professionals are a broad group of careers where people are seeking income from their art. The types of careers among this group are ever changing but some examples are: actors, musicians, performers, entertainers, writers, designers, artists, comedians, dancers, producers, photographers, creators, editors and directors of all kinds. My passion for working with this group comes from my own experience in the arts.

Specializing as a therapist for artists, entertainers, and creatives means that I am particularly in tune to the concerns and needs of this group. Some of the specific concerns that come up with creative professionals are ones of identity, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, work/life balance, career transition, and life purpose. Most important to acknowledge is that being an artist is not just a career, it is who you are. I bring this personal understanding with me into the room, and it deeply changes the type of therapy possible.

There is a strong connection between creativity and psychological health. For those impacted by trauma and painful past experiences, creativity can play an important role in survival, resilience, restoration, and recovery. In turn, creativity and confidence flow more freely when inner obstacles and blocks are dissolved. Trauma, when not processed and released, is often the root cause of creative and performance issues. This approach holds the potential to led to breakthroughs in understanding and addressing the nuanced emotional aspects often present in a creative lifestyle.
